Which Villain in the 2nd Movie?Greetings, supporters of MARIO-BROS-Movie: :iconMario-Bros-Movie:
We should all agree that we want the studio (whichever one ends up making the movie) to make the 1st Movie follow the standard Mario-vs-Bowser formula that fans of the games are most familiar with. Picking Bowser as the lead villain is appropriate for the 1st Movie, because that's what both fans and general audiences would recognize most.
But for the sequels, the studio should NOT want to bring back Bowser as the villain, since the franchise has a great list of non-Koopa villains that the studio can pick from...The sequels should be used as an opportunity to promote the lesser known villains, and attract newcomers to play the games from which those villains came.
The big question of this page is:
Which Mario villain is capable of fitting the standard "2nd Movie Villain" Formula?
For those who don't know what that means, in a typical superhero/action-adventure trilogy, the 2nd Movie i
SUPER MARIO MOVIE Group - Challenge #1This entry's challenge is: Princess Peach
For our Group: :iconMario-Bros-Movie:....We will be posting "challenges" for volunteers to create "concept art" for our Group's gallery.
For the 1st challenge (Princess Peach), we want to see artwork of Peach, following the example set by the picture below...
**** This picture...You might need to zoom in (press CRTL and + together) to see this picture more closely and comfortably. ****
To me, this is the PERFECT example of what Princess Peach should look like in a serious epic animated movie. I honestly can't find a single thing in this picture that needs improvement (well, except for one small-but-important detail).
Here's a list of the things they did
SUPER MARIO MOVIE Group - Challenge #2This entry's challenge is: Bowser
For our Group: :iconmario-bros-movie: ... We will be posting "challenges" for volunteers to create "concept art" for our Group's gallery.
For the 2nd Challenge (BOWSER), we want to see "concept art" (not necessarily literally) based on the following sketch...
This sketch is the closest thing I've ever seen to a proper redesign of Bowser's appearance....It's not perfect, there are several flaws that need to be fixed, but it's certainly going in the right direction of what Movieverse-Bowser should look like, because it manages to remove the exaggerated details of his snout without contradicting its basic shape. Furthermore, his skin actually looks scaly now, and he has real muscle-tone. If this sketch was a DeviantART image, I would definitely submit it into my Group's gallery....I lik
WHAT KIND OF ART DO WE ACCEPT?
We only accept serious/epic art. The purpose, is to show the animation studios that we want the Super Mario Bros movie to be made as a serious, epic movie.
Further, any art that fits the above description, can also be counted as "Concept Art", including sketches, drawings; paintings. (It doesn't need to look as professional or 3D-ish as what you might see in a "The Art of ..." movie book, but it needs to be impressive/outstanding enough to make people wonder if it's from a "The Art of ..." movie book.
Most importantly, the art must stay true to the vision we want the studio to fulfill.) The purpose of the art is to be a source of influence for whichever studio ends up producing the animated movie. The intention is to give the director(s) and studio-executives the fan-input they need to make a serious, epic animated movie.
When the studio sees our group's art, they're supposed to understand that we're trying to suggest to them:
- "This is what the Mushroom Kingdom should look like."
- "This is what Mario and Luigi should look like."
- "This is what the Koopas should look like."
- "This is what the Princesses should look like."
- "This is what Bowser should look like."
